Kaal ran out of 'Luck' at the box office in 2004, but director Soham Shah after opting out of the Karan Johar camp, returns with an action adventure titled 'Luck' starring Sanjay Dutt, Imran Khan, Shruti Haasan, Mithun Chakraborty, Ravi Kishan amongst others. Can Luck bring Soham some much needed Luck?

Luck is about... Luck, luck and more luck. It's also about betting, an organized crime pitting human against humans, from all over the world in traps of death. Who survives and who has more Luck, forms the rest of Luck!

Films like this are rarely made in Bollywood and when directors have tried something so different, they have failed, both critically and commercially. This should be no different. So what went wrong? Apart from the initial few sequences, almost everything! You end up laughing over scenes which are meant to be thrilling. When the script is so unrealistic, it all comes down to direction and performances, to make it look convincing on screen. A strong second half was important, after a decent first, but the director much like his previous venture falls way short. In fact, the all important underwater sequence makes
no impact whatsoever, zero adrenaline rush.

The action sequences are well shot and the background music is good. The performances are a mixed bag. Imran Khan is good, but much similar to his performance in Kidnap. Shruti Hassan has good screen presence, but needs to work on her dialogue delivery; some tips from her father should help. Ravi Kishan is fantastic, full of energy on screen. Mithunda does well too. Danny Denzongpa is funny, unintentionally. Chitrashi Rawat is fantastic. Swamji rocked!

To sum up, Luck definitely would need immense luck, to click with the audience। Found the excessive usage of the word 'Luck', irritating in the review? Well, you are bound to be pulling the last remaining hair out, while watching this. It's repeated approximately 500 times, or maybe more!
