Kites Release Date shifted Again

The movie will now be released on 15th January 2010 to mark Hrithik's 10th year of acting(Kaho na Pyaar hai realeased on 14th January 2000). The distribution rights of Kites have been sold to Reliance Big Pictures for a large amount of Rs 150 crores. It is a record till date for Bollywood.
We just hope that this one is the final date.

The latest rumour doing the rounds in the trade circles is that Kites may not release on January 15 next year at all! Instead the movie might hit the screens almost a month before the scheduled date – ie December 18, 2009.

Apparently it is Rakesh Roshan's idea to push for a December release and director Anurag Basu and the film's star Hrithik Roshan have been working overtime on the post-production aspects.

According to a source, "The film is now on the editing table and they are gearing up for a December 18 release. The promos of the movie are also being readied for the release."

It seems Rakesh Roshan is keen that the film's release does not clash with Aamir Khan's 3 Idiots, which releases on December 25.

"Rakesh Roshan also wants to ensure that Kites be the solo release of the week. Hrithik Roshan has not had a release after Jodhaa Akbar and he has completely focused on Kites for the past year. So everyone is keeping their fingers crossed," source

However when contacted Rakesh Roshan he said, "Nothing has been finalised as yet."

One of the most awaited Bollywood movies of 2009 is the Shah Rukh Khan starrer My Name Is Khan. It's Karan Johar's latest project and is about a muslim who suffers from Asperger syndrome. After 9/11 terrorist attacks in New York, he is arrested by the CIA as a suspect terrorist. The movie stars Shah Rukh Khan with Kajol. A superhit pair!

The film will be about a Muslim guy (Shah Rukh Khan) living in New York, with his wife (Kajol) during the 11th September attacks.

Subhash Ghai’s BLACK & WHITE has been invited for the Carlsberg International Film festival to be held in Nagpur from the 11th to the 18th of September 09 while Subhash Ghai has been invited to inaugurate the festival. The film will be featured along with La Dolce Vita, Turtles can fly, Spring Summer, Edge of Heaven and a Marathi film Gabriche Pause.

BLACK & WHITE has emerged as show stealer and has garnered critical acclaim from media as well as general Public. In the first week of its release it was granted tax exemption in Delhi followed by the state of Maharashtra. This small budget patriotic drama is still growing at the box office too on the strength of its appreciation by word of mouth.

Ashutosh Gowariker’s forthcoming romantic comedy “What’s Your Raashee?” will have its world premier at the Toronto Film Festival on the 19th of September as a matinee at the Roy Thompson Hall in Toronto. The stars of the film Harman Baweja and Priyanka Chopra along with director Ashutosh Gowariker and producers Ronnie Screwvala and Sunita Gowariker will be present for this gala presentation at the festival.

‘What’s Your Raashee?’ is based on a Gujrati novel Kimball Ravenswood by Shri Madhu Rye, and is a story revolving around a young Gujarati man in pursuit of his dream girl with the catch to find her within 10 days in order to save his family from an unforeseen ordeal, which leads to an array of confusion, chaos and a hilarious joy ride.
