Kaminey is directed by Vishal Bhardwaj, who in the past has directed critically lauded films like Omkara, Maqbool and Makdee. Like most of his films, the multi-talented director has scripted and composed the music of this Shahid Kapoor - Priyanka Chopra starrer.
The two main characters in Kaminey are Charlie and Guddu, twin brothers who are very different from each other. Their conflicting nature, seperates the two. But life has something, totally unexpected in-store for them. Revealing the storyline would ruin your 'Kaminey' experience, as the movie is ought to be watched on the big screen.
Kaminey is one of Vishal Bhardwaj's finest works to date. Apart from excelling as the director, it is his writing that makes this one of the best edge-of-the-seat thrillers in a long longtime. The movie has emotions, drama, tragedy, suspense, thrill and a lot more. Not to be forgotten its outstanding music composition, dominated by the Dhan Teh Nan track. The re-worked version of the old classic Duniya Mein Logon Ko, Dhokha... goes well with the film.
Each character is well defined, perfectly cast and get ample amount of screen time to make an impression. Including the supporting character actors. If you loved Omkara but felt it lacked wholesome entertainment, Kaminey has enough and more in it to entertain. The dialogues are smartly written and dialogue delivery is perfect, credit for which should go to the actors.
Talking of the performers, Shahid Kapoor delivers a smashing performance both as Charlie and Guddu. A performance that should make Pankaj Kapur, a proud father. Priyanka Chopra is good; her presence is mostly restricted to the first half. Amol Gupte as the main villain is terrific.
To sum up, Kaminey is a potential blockbuster. It has all the right ingredients along with superior direction, to please every cinegoer.
